DIRECT SUPERVISOR:
Education Specialist reports directly to the Vice Principal of Special Education
EDUCATION SPECIALIST ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited, to:
- Case Manager to special education students with mild to moderate or moderate to severe disabilities
- Be available for families on an as-needed basis via phone and online understanding the flexibility necessary for an independent study environment
- Respond as soon as possible but no later than 24 hours to parent, student, teacher, staff, and admin inquiries via phone and/or e-mail during the regular work week
- Work collaboratively within the special education team and across departments in a professional manner
- Work collaboratively with all providers for students on caseload and ensure services are provided
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state timelines for documentation and IEPs
- Monitor IEP due dates and scheduling, including full team attendance and participation
- Email all approved provider reports to parents prior to IEPs
- Write and manage IEPs for all students on caseload in SEIS and send all lEP drafts to the administrator for review
- Monitor and upload electronic signatures in a timely manner
- Participate in state testing of all students
- Attend all Epic-required meetings in person and online
- Maintain records for caseload and other items determined by admin
- Collect data on all lEP goals as determined by admin
- Complete IEP Progress Reports for each student 2x/year
- Create and prepare Specialized Academic Instruction lessons for caseload
- Track all Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) service session deliveries
- Teach SAI as determined in student IEPs
- Engage in Epic's process of employee observation and teaching methods
- Other duties as assigned by Epic admin

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Valid, current, California education specialist credential
- State and federal background clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Education Code Section 44237)
- Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days (Education Code Section 49406) upon employment and thereafter updated every four years
